Lewis
R. Yancey, II
was
born in 1954 in Montgomery County, Maryland ,the second of three children
born to Lewis and Frances. He was reared by his grandparents and received
his primary education in Louisa, Virginia. He attended Virginia State
University on an athletic scholarship and continued his education, later
graduating with a Bachelor of Religious Studies degree from Virginia University
of Lynchburg in 2001. God’s path for him had him return to Washington,
DC to work in the family business until 1988 when he established District
Furniture Repair, Inc. in Arlington, VA. It was in Washington, DC that
he met and married the former, Jewel S. Briscoe in 1980. This loving family
is blessed with four children (Candice, Randy, Micah & Shannon) and
three grandchildren (Kilani, Kian & Jovi). Pastor Yancey followed
God’s instruction and moved his family back to Louisa in 1996 and
responded to his call to the Gospel ministry in that same year. Pastor
Yancey received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Edgewood Baptist
Church in Washington, DC. In his Christian walk, he has impacted lives
with his God given gift of teaching, his compassion and outreach, his
mentoring of youth, his ability to structure effective ministries, the
power of his preaching and his love for God’s people. Pastor Yancey
has “served” as a member, Sunday School Teacher, Missionary,
Deacon, Associate Pastor to Dr. Monroe Smith (Mt. Hope Baptist Church,
Louisa) and most recently, Pastor of Second Liberty Baptist Church.
